Netscape Inc. introduced the JavaScript technology in the winter 1995-96, and just as Java, it has since evolved a lot. This technology provides the means to make small functions that manipulate browser data (which can be visualized as changed in the browser window or status line, among others), and does not need any kind of compilation.
